Food Manager - In Person
Exam Only
Most states require at least one manager or person in charge to hold a current CFPM certification and to be onsite during operating hours.
After 24 hours, an examinee may retest if you do not pass the examination. An exam fee will be charged. You make take the examination twice within 30 days. If you don't pass your second attempt, you must wait at least 60 days from your most recent attempt before taking the exam again. No more than three attempts are allowed within a 12 month period. Not passing the exam is the only legitimate reason to retest.
Training durations vary, but for example, a typical class includes 4-5 hours of instruction and breaks. The exam is administered after the instructional portion is complete. T(http://complete.training)he exam is usually 1-2 hours (depending on the individuals pace to complete the 90 multiple choice exam questions.) Examinees may leave when finished with the exam.
A score of 70% or above is passing.
The exam consists of 90 multiple choice questions. Each question has 4 multiple choice options to choose from.
ServSafe Food Manager certificates are valid for 5 years.
Absolutely! Studying for the ServSafe Food Manager exam is highly recommended to ensure a passing score, even for experienced industry professionals. While many questions focus on common practices, the exam requires specific knowledge of updated food safety laws, precise temperatures, and technical terminology. Exam questions can be tricky and require a solid understanding of food safety requirements.
A link to study materials is provided at registration. Most people find these materials combined with the class instruction to be sufficient for exam preparation.
*The ServSafe Food Manager textbook is not required and will not be used in class. For those that feel they would like to purchase the text, it is available on the ServSafe website at www.servsafe.com.(http://www.servsafe.com)
Unfortunately, you are prohibited from referring to notes, textbooks, or personal items during the exam.
The area must be clear of phones, papers, books, etc.
The exam is strictly monitored by a proctor.
Exam results are emailed from the National Restaurant Association to examinees. Instructions to print your certificate are included in the email.
In general, you will log in to www.servsafe.com (http://www.servsafe.com)and click the link for "My Certificates".
2 different exam formats are available for examinees to choose from the day of class.
For those taking the online format of the exam, results are available the same day immediately after submitting the exam for grading.
For those taking the exam booklet format of the exam, results are available within 5-10 business days.
Results are received by email from the National Restaurant Association.
A brief lunch break (typically on site for time management) is scheduled into the class. Lunch is not included in the price of the class and is not provided during classes open to the public. However, menus will be available for ordering.
Payments are due before exam day. Payments are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you may reschedule once at no additional cost by contacting us at 314.924.3176 or info@nolantraining.comĀ (mailto:info@nolantraining.com)before the day of the class. Registrations are transferable, provided notice is given in advance.
A photo ID is required
A laptop/tablet if planning to take the online format of the exam.
Cash or credit card for lunch or snack if not planning to purchase lunch.
A pen/highlighter for note taking
Dress casually & comfortably *(room temperatures can vary)
